Tom Belmaggio
Head Athletic Trainer

Marshall University Director of Athletics Bob Marcum announced the hiring of Tom Belmaggio as the Thundering Herd's head athletic trainer in October of 2007.
Belmaggio, a Morgantown native who has more than 10 years experience at the college and professional levels, comes to Marshall after serving as Assistant Athletic Trainer at Eastern Kentucky University for the past two years. He will oversee Marshall's athletic training staff and day-to-day sports medicine operations involving the Thundering Herd's 16 athletic programs.
In addition to his time at EKU, Bellagio has served as associate athletic trainer at the University of Rhode Island (August, 2001 to September, 2006), a preseason trainer with the New England Patriots (summer of 2005), head athletic trainer at the Institute of International Sport in Kingston, Rhode Island (Summer of 2003 and 2006), a graduate assistant at Baptist Hospital and Lipscomb University in Nashville (2000-01), a student athletic trainer at West Virginia University (1995-98) and as an athletic trainer intern with the Dallas Cowboys in the summer of 1997.
Belmaggio, a member of the National Athletic Trainers Association, graduated from West Virginia University with a B.S. in Exercise Physiology in 1998 and earned an M.S. in Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Safety from Middle Tennessee State University in 2001.

Assistant Athletic Trainer Tara Conway is in her third year overseeing all nine Thundering Herd women's sports, with basketball and softball serving as her primary areas.
Conway joins the Marshall University Athletic Training staff after serving as a graduate assistant at the University of South Alabama. While there, she worked with women's volleyball, men's tennis and women's tennis. She earned her Masters Degree in Exercise Science from USA in 2005.
Conway attended Arkansas State University where she received her Bachelors Degree in Athletic Training in 2003. While at Arkansas State, she worked with the Indian football team, as well as the Lady Indian basketball, volleyball, tennis and soccer teams.
A native of Stevens Point, WI, Conway has also been an athletic trainer for the Mobile Tennis Center, the Largest Municipal Tennis Facility in the World. She has interned at Williams Baptist College, Nettleton High School, and the Northeast Arkansas Physical Therapy Clinic.

Joshua Signs joined the Marshall Athletic Training staff during the 2002 football season and serves as Marshall's football trainer.
His primary duties involve attending to the daily medical and training needs of the Marshall football team.
He received his B.A. in Physical Education from Tusculum College in 1999 before getting his master's in Education from Virginia Tech in 2000.
Prior to his arrival at Marshall he had served as head trainer for the Gulf Coast Royals in the Florida State League. He has also worked in baseball for the Rochester Red Wings.
Josh is married to the former Christina Stocum of Owego, N.Y.
Dan Ricci

Dan Ricci started with the Marshall University Athletic training staff following the 2006 season as an assistant athletic trainer for the football team.
He attended the University of Pittsburgh for graduate school where he graduated in 2006 with a master’s degree in sports medicine. While at Pitt, he was a GA with the football team, women’s basketball and gymnastics teams. Ricci attended Slippery Rock University as an undergraduate and graduated in 2003 with a BS in Athletic Training.
Prior to attending graduate school, Ricci worked at a high school near his hometown of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Following graduate school, he was a faculty athletic trainer with his alma mater at Slippery Rock University where he oversaw the women’s volleyball and men’s and women’s track teams.
