CINCINNATI, Ohio - The Marshall cross country teams each named runner-up laurels Friday at the Queen City Invitational in Cincinnati, Ohio. Host Cincinnati nabbed first place on both the men's and women's side.
In the women's standings, Cincinnati scored 19, followed by Marshall (31) and Kentucky State (84). Cincinnati's men won with a total of 18 points. Marshall was second with 38 points and Kentucky State took third place with 78.
Marian Brooks earned second place in the women's 5K with a time of 19:18.05, just behind champion Megan Knapp (19:16.4) of Cincinnati. Emily Bailey (21:24.36) and Allison Cox (21:34.77) finished 10th and 11th, respectively.
In the men's 8K, Jon Nelson was the Herd's top finisher in fifth place at 27:16.02. He was closely followed by Andrew Ramell (27:23.81) and Josh Holley (27:26.18), who finished sixth and seventh, respectively.
Marshall is back in action at noon Sept. 30 at Illinois-Chicago.
