HUNTINGTON, W.Va.- The Marshall Thundering Herd cross country teams open the 2006 season up on Friday, Sept. 1, at Eastern Kentucky. The Colonels play host to Marshall and Kentucky for the 5 p.m. race.

The women will run in a 5k race and the men an 8k, respectively. Both races will be held at EKU's woodchip trail, located on the by-pass across the street from Roy Kidd Stadium. The meet will be scored internationally.

Last season Marshall participated in the EKU Open to close out the 2005 season. Top finishers for the Herd were Jon Nelson, seventh overall, and Marian Brooks, fifth overall. Nelson and Brooks have both returned to Marshall this season.
