Women's Cross Country Opens Season

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall University women's cross country team opens the season on Friday at the Woodford Cross Country Trials hosted by the University of Kentucky.

The Thundering Herd placed 12th at the MAC Championship during the 2003 season and 24th at the NCAA Regional meet.

Returning this season is junior Stephanie Achilles (Deptford, N.J.) who was the top finisher for the Herd at the NCAA Regionals. Achilles placed 68th with a time of 22:41. Also returning is senior Stephanie Eastman (Spencer, W.Va.) who placed 53rd at the MAC Championship.

Teams competing in the meet on Friday include Louisville, Kentucky and Eastern Kentucky. Start time is set for 5 p.m.
