CINCINNATI – The Marshall University men’s and women’s cross country teams both placed third today at the Queen City Invitational in Cincinnati, Ohio. The meet was hosted by the University of Cincinnati.
Leading the way for the men was senior Jason Pyles (Galipolis Ferry, W.Va.) who placed 11th in a time of 27:0257. Finishing just behind Pyles in 12th was junior Mike Jones (Parkersburg, W.Va.) with a time of 27:04.64.
For the women the top finisher was freshman Emily Bailey (Kenova, W.Va.) who placed 15th in a time of 21:25.68. Also placing in the top-20 for the Thundering Herd was sophomore Stephanie Achilles (Deptford, N.J.) who finished 19th (22:32.26).
Host team Cincinnati wrapped up first place on both the men’s and women’s side. Leading the women was Ruth Limo in 19:58.35. For the men was Kevin Schwartz finishing in 26:12.11.
The Herd will next travel to Chicago to compete in the Loyola Invitational on Oct. 2.
