Cross Country Competes at Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invitational

    CHICAGO – The Marshall University men’s and women’s cross country teams competed in the Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invitational on Saturday. Over 400 collegiate runners participated in the event.

    For the Thundering Herd men the top finisher was senior Jason Pyles (Galipolis Ferry, W.Va.) who placed 89th out of 249 competitors with a time of 26:15.

    Freshman Emily Bailey (Kenova, W.Va.) was the top finisher for the Thundering Herd women’s team. Bailey placed 167th (out of 210) with a time of 20:36.

    First place for the women went to Leah Rygh of DePaul University who finished with a time of 17:24. Capturing the top honors on the men’s side was Bobby Anderson from Drake University who finished with a time of 24:20.

    This meet ends the regular season for the cross country team. The Herd will next be in action at the Mid-American Conference Championships on Oct. 30.
