Pair of Sophomores Lead Herd Into Final Regular Season Meets

HUNTINGTON—Sophomores Stephanie Eastman and Greg Howard lead the Marshall Cross Country teams into their final regular season events this weekend.

Friday, the teams will make a stop in Richmond, KY to run in the Eastern Kentucky Invitational before traveling to Greenville, SC Saturday to compete in the Furman Invitational.

Eastman has finished in the top ten in all three of the Herd’s meets this season. The Spencer, WV native has placed in the top three of Marshall’s last two events including a third place finish two weeks ago at the UNC Greensboro Invitational, with a season best time of 19 minutes and 15 seconds.

The women’s cross country team placed second at the UNC Greensboro Invitational behind Wake Forest University.

The men are returning to action after a first place finish two weeks ago at the UNC-Greensboro Invitational, led by at 10th place finish by sophomore Greg Howard. The Canton, Ohio native has finished in the top ten in the Herd’s last two events and recorded a 13th place finish at the Woodford Cross Country Trials. Howard’s season best time was 27 minutes and 33 seconds.

This weekend’s events are Marshall’s remaining regular season meets before traveling to Oxford, Ohio Saturday Nov. 2 for the MAC Championships.
