Marshall Cross Country Set to Compete in Final Regular Season Meet

HUNTINGTON, W.Va.- The Marshall University Cross Country Teams are set to compete in their final meet of the regular season when they travel to Richmond, Ky., to participate in the 2003 Eastern Kentucky Invitational, Friday.
Junior Craig Swisher (Bidwell, Ohio) will look to finish his outstanding regular season campaign this weekend. Swisher has been the top finisher for the Herd this season, which includes a season best third place finish at the Richmond Invitational. Swisher’s has finished in the top ten three out of the four meets this season and is looking for his fourth.
Senior Shelby Pride (Bethel, Ohio) and junior Stephanie Eastman (Spencer, W.Va.) have been a solid force for the women’s squad this season, and will look to end the regular season with their one-two punch. So far this 2003 campaign the duo has set the pace for the women’s squad. Pride has finished in the top ten three meets straight and was the top Herd women’s finisher at the 31st Annual Sean Earl Loyola Lakefront Invitational, finishing 83rd out of a field of 560 with a time of 19:07. Her partner in crime, Eastman, has had equal success finishing in the top ten twice and once in the top fifteen. Her best finish this season includes two 5th places at the 2003 Woodford XC Trials and the Virginia Tech Invitational.
Marshall will rap up its schedule of regular season meets Friday, and then turn its focus to the 2003 MAC Championships. The 2003 Cross Country MAC Championships are scheduled for Nov. 1 at Akron, Ohio.
