HUNTINGTON- W.Va. - Marshall University Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Teams are set to compete in the 2003 Mid-American Conference Cross Country Championships Saturday, November 1. The men's 8,000-meter race and women's 5,000-meter race will be contested on the Mayfair Country Club course in Green, Ohio.

Looking to make a mark for the Herd’s men’s squad is junior Craig Swisher (Bidwell,Ohio) who is the Herd’s top finisher this 2003 season campaign. Swisher has finished in the top ten overall in four out of five meets he has participated in this season, including a season high 3rd place finish at the Richmond Invitational.

On the flip side the women’s team looks to senior Shelby Pride (Bethel, Ohio) and junior Stephanie Eastman (Spencer, W.Va.) to pick up where they left off. Pride has also finished in the top ten four times this season, with a 6th overall finish at the 2003 Woodford XC Trials. Eastman has posted three top ten finishes and also three fifth place showings.

The women's race will start the day at 11 a.m., with the men's race following at noon. An awards ceremony to recognize the individual and team champions will take place on the Mayfair Country Club terrace around 1:30 p.m.
