GASTONIA, N.C. - Marshall University's Brandon Casamassima, a member of the Gastonia Grizzlies of the Coastal Plains League, was recently named Rawlings Co-Hitter of the Week after hitting .529 between July 13th and July 19th.

During the seventh week of the Coastal Plain League season Casamassima led the league with 17 total bases and a slugging percentage of 1.214.

Gastonia currently has a record of 10-10 and is in third place in the Western Division.

Casamassima finished his third season with Marshall with a .288 batting average, nine home runs (including three in the Conference USA tournament) and 34 RBIs. He was also 11-11 in stolen bases and registered a .491 slugging percentage. Casamassima pounded out 61 hits and totaled 14 doubles in 2008.
