The membership of the Collegiate Sports Video Association is proud to announce that Brad Helton, Video Coordinator for the Marshall University’s football program, has been selected as the recipient of the Mid-American Conference Video Coordinator of the Year award.

Helton’s peers within the MAC voted him as their coordinator of the year. He will be honored at this year’s CSVA conference to be held in May and is now an eligible candidate for the CSVA/Bob Matey National Video Coordinator of the Year. This award is voted on by members of the Collegiate Sports Video Association and will be awarded at this year’s conference.

A native of Bristol, Virginia, Helton has completed this 8th season as the Video Coordinator for the Marshall Thundering Herd. Along with his staff, Helton implements the use of a sophisticated computer network/digital editing system, providing Herd coaches with almost instant access to video and data on Marshall games, practices and opponent’s games.

Prior to his arrival at Marshall, Helton served as color commentator for women’s basketball at East Tennessee State University. He graduated from Virginia High School in Bristol, VA in 1988 and received his B.S. from East Tennessee State in 1994 with a major in mass communications. He played one year of baseball for Gardner Webb University.

This is Helton’s third consecutive year for being selected as MAC Video Coordinator of the Year.

“The credit really goes to my head coach and administration for giving me to opportunity to serve the team with the necessary tools to win both in the video office and on the playing field,” Helton said.

In addition to his video work, Helton is also well known as a still photographer and has been hired on numerous occasions to shoot pro/celebrity golf tournaments and various NFL events, including the NFL Charities Super Bowl Golf Classic, The Crosby, and the John Daly Make-A-Wish Celebrity Golf Classic.
