Marshall Football Players to Visit Local Hospital

4/6/2004

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – More than a dozen members of the Marshall University football team will visit the pediatric ward at Cabell-Huntington Hospital at noon on Friday, April 9th.

“It gives our players an opportunity to visit with the children and their families that have to be in the hospital, and let them know that we are thinking of them,” Marshall University Associate Head Football Coach Mark Gale said. “It reminds our players how fortunate they are, and how wonderful it is to bring joy to a young person. The children, the parents, the nurses, and doctors also get a chance to see that our young men are more than just the helmets, facemasks, and shoulder pads they see on the field.”

Each year members of the Marshall Football team visit with children hospitalized at Cabell-Huntington during Easter weekend and other holidays. The Easter visit has been an annual event for more than a decade.
