Herd Ticket Caravan Revving Up
Early Herd Special A Big Hit

5/22/2002

They are four of the most recognized words in all of sports -- “Gentlemen, start your engines!”

That is exactly what is going to happen during the months of June and July as Marshall football coach Bob Pruett and members of the Thundering Herd football squad make their annual trek around the tri-state as a part of the 2002 Marshall Football Season Ticket Caravan.

“This a great way for us to bring Marshall football to the fans of the Herd,” Director of Marketing Charlie Hagley said. “Herd fans love talking about Herd football and this gives us an opportunity to provide them with information on the variety of season ticket packages we have available.”

The caravan is scheduled for six dates this summer, beginning June 8 with an appearance at the Pan Cake House in Beckley from 10 a.m. until noon. The ticket caravan will make nine more stops, on four days, in June before wrapping up at the Huntington Mall on July 28.

The 2002 Ticket Caravan comes on the heels of the highly successful “Early Herd” Special for season tickets. The special resulted in 7,991 season tickets sold by the deadline. Among those tickets sold were more than 800 to new season-ticket holders.

“We are very excited by the response to the ‘Early Herd’ special, but want to make sure all Marshall fans who have not yet purchased their season tickets know there is still a discount when buying season tickets over purchasing single-game tickets,” Herd Director of Ticketing, Michael Carpenter said.

Discounts over the price of six single game tickets range from 8% for sideline reserved to 40% for sideline family plan tickets.

Herd fans should remember two other important dates. The priority points deadline for the purchase of tickets to the Virginia Tech game is Friday, May 31 and the season-ticket renewal deadline is Friday, June 14.

Information on any of the many season ticket packages available can be found on the Marshall athletic web site (www.HerdZone.com) or by calling the ticket office at 1-800-THE-HERD or 696-HERD.
