Football Season and Away Game Tickets in High Demand
6/24/2004
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Excitement about the Ohio State football game and a home schedule that includes rival Miami has led to an unprecedented run on priority away game and season tickets according to the Marshall University Ticket Office.
The Marshall University ticket office accepted priority orders for the Ohio State game through the May 14th priority deadline and almost 6,600 ticket orders poured in.
“We (Marshall) were only issued 5,600 tickets, and of that allotment 600 tickets were designated for our students and marching band,” Marshall University Director of Ticketing Michael Carpenter said. “This left us with 5,000 tickets available for distribution to those who pre-ordered by the priority deadline, and unfortunately we had to issue refunds for 1,600 tickets.”
Ohio State ticket orders were filled by Big Green Priority Points in the following order:
1st Priority
2004 Sky Suites Accounts- Order Limit 12 tickets
2004 Chairback Season Ticket Holders- Limit 8 tickets
2004 Season Ticket Holders who are 2004 Big Green members - Limit 6 tickets
2nd Priority
2004 Season Ticket Holders who are not 2004 Big Green members- Order Limit 4 tickets
3rd Priority
2004 Big Green members who are not 2004 Season Ticket Holders- Order Limit 4 tickets
Based on the above criteria orders were only filled for those in the first priority level (Sky Suites, Chairback Holders, and 2004 Season Ticket Holders who are 2004 Big Green members), and within that group Marshall was only able to fill orders for accounts with more than 20 priority points. Accounts whose orders will be filled should expect to see their tickets in the mail in the middle of July according to Carpenter.
There are still a limited number of priority tickets available to see the Thundering Herd take on the University of Georgia Bulldogs, ranked #1 in CNN/SI’s preseason Power Rankings, on September 18th in Athens. For more information on purchasing these tickets contact the Marshall University Ticket Office at 1-800-THE-HERD.
Along with the impressive sales of priority away game tickets, 2004 season tickets have also been in high demand. The ticket office reports that more than 10,800 season tickets have been sold, well ahead of the 9,500 sold at this point last season.
“Our Ticket Caravans and Choose-A-Seats have been very successful,” Carpenter said. “Fans are taking advantage of the great prices we have on Herdzone and Redzone tickets. These tickets offer an affordable way to see every home game this season for only $65 or $85.”
Marshall’s next Choose-A-Seat days are scheduled for July 10th and August 7th from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Joan C. Edwards Stadium.
“With Kansas State and a Conference USA home schedule in 2005, I highly recommend that fans join the Big Green and purchase 2004 season tickets now,” Carpenter said.
The Marshall Ticket Office plans to mail out football season tickets the first week of August, putting 2004 season tickets in the hands of the fans approximately one month prior to the season opener with Troy on Sept 4.
