Thundering Herd to Paint the Southern Coalfield Green on July 26-28

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall University Big Green Scholarship Foundation will be “Painting the Southern Coalfields Green” the last week of July.
Marshall Head Football Coach Mark Snyder, Director of Athletics Bob Marcum and a group of other Thundering Herd coaches and athletic department officials will be visiting Mercer County for a dinner on July 26 and Raleigh County for a dinner and golf on July 27-28. All events are open to the public.
The Mercer County event on Tuesday, July 26, is scheduled with a reception at 6:30 p.m. and a dinner to follow at 7:15 at the Douglas Center in Princeton. Cost will be $20 per person. A pair of Thundering Herd football players is also scheduled to be at the event.
Marshall fans, alumni and students from Mercer and surrounding counties, as well as Tazewell County, Virginia, are invited to attend.
A Big Green Club organizational meeting is scheduled for July 13 at the Douglas Center at 7 p.m. for anyone in the Four Seasons area interested in helping at the dinner.
The Herd then moves on to Raleigh County on Wednesday/Thursday, July 27-28.
Sponsored by the Beckley Athletic Club of MU, the Wednesday evening dinner at the Black Knight Country Club Pool in Beckley, will have Coach Snyder, head basketball Coach Ron Jirsa and Athletic Director Bob Marcum as special guests.
Cost for the dinner is $50 per person, and begins with a 6 p.m. reception with dinner to follow.
On Thursday, the Beckley Big Green club will host the 15th Annual Big Green Four-Man Scramble Golf Tournament at Grandview Country Club. The tournament will begin with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. with registration and lunch beginning at 11:30 a.m.
The golf tournament entry fee is $100 per person which includes a dinner provided by Outback Steakhouse after the golf.
