Pat Carter is in his ninth year as a volunteer assistant coach with the Marshall golf program.
Carter, a 1991 Marshall graduate, was a member of the Thundering Herd golf team from 1986 to 1990. The West Virginia native captained the Herd as a junior and senior, earning All-Southern Conference honors in 1990.
Carter, one of the top amateur golfers in the nation, is a 12-time West Virginia Amateur Champion and has also qualified for the U.S. Amateur 12 times.
Carter was a quarterfinalist in both the U.S. Amateur and the U.S. Mid-Amateur in 2003 and was selected as the 2001 West Virginia Amateur Athlette of the Year. He has also been honored as the W.Va. Golf Association Player of the Year 13 times.Carter was inducted into the Marshall Athletic Hall of Fame in 2005.
Carter currently resides in Huntington with his wife Kelli and their two children, Hogan and Heidi.
