Men's Golf In A Tie For 11th After First Round Of Furman Intercollegiate

GREENVILLE, S.C. - Senior Shawn Warren (Windham, Maine) shot a first-round 72 to lead the Herd after the first round of the Furman Intercollegiate in Greenville. Marshall ended the day in a tie for 11th with a team total of 300, while Warren finished the first round in a tie for 16th. Elon University leads the field after a first-round 287, one stroke better than East Carolina and Charleston Southern. Justin Newton, Andre Thorsen, and Stuart Carrihill are in a tie for first after shooting a first-round 68. Other Marshall scores on Friday were Christian Brand (Charleston, W.Va.) with a 76 (T-55), Jonathan Pepe (McKeesport, Pa.) with a 76 (T-55), Andy Foster (Vinton, Va.) with a 76 (T-55), and Trent Schambach (Glen Dale, W.Va.), who fired a first-round 77 (T-72). Chris Tipper (Parkerburg, W.Va.) played as an individual and shot an 80 (T-99). The second round of the Furman Intercollegiate begins on Saturday morning. ###
