COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Thundering Herd men's golf team is in 16th place teams after a rain-shortened first day of the Kepler Intercollegiate at the Scarlet Course in Columbus, Ohio after Marshall shot a team total of 322 in the first round. Play was suspended in the afternoon during the second round because of rainy conditions. The University of Louisville leads the 16-team field after posting a first-round team score of eight-over, 292. The Cardinals lead South Carolina, who is in second place, by two strokes. Adam Hedwin of Louisville, George Bryan IV of South Carolina, and Kyle Moore of Northwestern lead the field after shooting a one-under, 70, in the first round of play. Leading the way for the Thundering Herd is Trent Schambach (Glen Dale, W.Va.), who is in a tie for 24th after posting a five-over, 76. Other Herd scores were Shawn Warren (Windham, Maine) with an 81 (T-64), Brandon Katzeff (Uniontown, Pa.) with an 82 (T-73), Christian Brand (Charleston, W.Va.) with an 83 (T-79), and Phil DiLorenzo (Wellston, W.Va.) with an 87 (T-88). Chris Tipper (Parkersburg, W.Va.) played as an individual and shot an 81 (T-64). The second round will be continued Sunday, followed by the final 18 holes, weather permitting. ###
