TEXARKANA, Ark. - The Marshall University men's golf team fired a 300 on Tuesday at Texarkana Country Club to jump ahead of Rice University and finish the 2008 Conference USA Championship in 10th place (899) while UAB won the team title with an overall score of 857.

The Blazers' Zach Sucher (207) and Brad Smith (209) finished the event in first and second place, respectively. Southern Miss (866) finished in second place in the team race.

The Thundering Herd's Christian Brand fired a 3-over 75 in the final round to finish in a tie for 26th place (222) to lead MU. In his final collegiate event, senior Trent Schambach (t-32nd) posted a 54-hole score of 224.

Herd senior Jonathan Pepe (229) finished in 49th place, recording MU's best score of the day with an even-par 72. MU sophomore Josh Boswell fired a 5-over 77 on Tuesday.
