Men's Golf In Ninth Place After First Round Of 2007 C-USA Championship

TEXARKANA, Texas - Freshman Christian Brand (Charleston, W.Va.) was the top Herd finisher in the first round of the 2007 C-USA Championship at the Texarkana Country Club in Texarkana, Ark., firing an even-par 72. Marshall is in ninth place in the 11-team tournament after posting a 12-over par, 300, on Sunday. Tulsa leads the tournament after the first 18-holes after shooting a three-under, 285. Memphis is three strokes back in second place after posting an even-par, 288. Ryan Henry of Tulsa carded a four-under, 68, to lead all individuals on Sunday. Brad Benjamin of Memphis and Garrett Osborn of UAB are one stroke back after shooting a 69. Other Marshall finishers on Sunday were Shawn Warren (Windham, Maine), who shot a one-over, 73 (T-11), Trent Schambach (Glen Dale, W.Va.), who fired a three-over, 75 (T-28), Phil DiLorenzo (Wellston, W.Va.), who carded an 80 (T-52), and Brandon Katzeff (Uniontown, Pa.), who tallied an 84 (54). The second 18 holes will be played on Monday at the Texarkana Country Club. ###
