PINEHURST, N.C. - After the opening 18 holes of the Pinehurst Intercollegiate, played at the par-72, 7,035-yard Pinehurst No. 8, the Marshall University men's golf team is in 15th place following its score of 315. Co-host Indiana was the lone school to shoot under par as a team with its 286 putting the Hoosiers at 2-under and 17 strokes of second-place Ball State (303).

Marshall's Nathan Kinker and Christian Brand both carded a 5-over 77 through 18 holes, putting the duo in a tie for 26th place. Trent Schambach was the Thundering Herd's other competitor to shoot a round in the 70s, firing a 78 on Sunday.

IU's Seth Brandon (69) leads the event and is the lone player to card a round in the 60s. Teammate Ryan Hen (70) is in second place.

The Pinehurst Intercollegiate will continue with the second round on Monday and conclude with Tuesday's third round. The 18-team tournament is hosted by Indiana and East Carolina.
