FARMINGTON, Pa. - After 36 holes of play at the Rutherford Intercollegiate the Marshall University men's golf team stands in ninth place with a score of 613, shooting a 307 on Monday on the heels of its opening-round 306. The 54-hole tournament, hosted by Penn State at the par-72, 7,268-yard Mystic Rock Course at Nemacolin Woodlands Resort, will conclude on Tuesday with tee times beginning at 7:30 a.m.

Thundering Herd senior Nathan Kinker (Barboursville, W.Va.) paces the Marshall contingent with a score of 147 (76-71), as his 36-hole total puts him 3-over for the championship (t-5) with the leader (Purdue's Nakarintra Ratanakul) at 6-under par. Kinker is the lone Herd golfer to card a score under par in a single round, with his 1-under 71 in round two.

Junior Christian Brand (Charleston, W.Va.) finished day two of the 12-team event with a score of 149 (73-76), good enough for 12th place. Freshman Carson Schambach (Glen Dale, W.Va.) is in a tie for 39th place after opening his collegiate career with scores of 76-79 (155).

Purdue (586) leads Miami (Ohio) (594) by eight strokes for the 36-hole team lead. The host Nittany Lions (597) are in third place. The Herd is two strokes behind Bowling Green and Xavier, who are tied in seventh place.
