Men's Golf in 13th Place After Two Rounds of Adams Cup

NEWPORT, R.I. - The Marshall University men's golf team is in 13th place after day one of the Adams Cup, hosted by the University of Rhode Island, after compiling a score of 614 (309-305) through 36 holes. Thundering Herd freshman Carson Schambach (Glen Dale, W.Va.) paces MU with a score of 150 (76-74), good for a tie for 30th place. Schambach opened with a 4-over 76 before carding a 74 in round two, tying senior Nathan Kinker (Barboursville, W.Va.) for the Herd's best round of day one. Kinker opened the Adams Cup with a 74 before firing a 77 in round two for a 151 (t-32). MU junior Christian Brand (Charleston, W.Va.) shot a 155 (78-77) through 36 holes. Texas A&M (566) leads the Adams Cup, five strokes ahead of second place Minnesota (571). The Aggies' Bronson Burgoon is the individual leader with a 135 (69-66) with Rocky Cleland of Southern Miss in second place (139). The third and final round of the Adams Cup will begin on Tuesday morning.
