Xavier Invitational on Tap for Men's Golf in Final Fall Tourney

CINCINNATI - The Marshall University men's golf team will play its final tournament of the fall season beginning Monday at the Xavier Invitational. The 54-hole event will be played at Oasis Golf Club with 36 holes on Monday and the final 18 holes taking place on Tuesday with 8 a.m. shotgun starts. The Thundering Herd will be represented by senior Nathan Kinker (Barboursville, W.Va.), junior Christian Brand (Charleston, W.Va.), sophomore Bennett Boyer (Millersburg, Pa.) and freshmen Bosten Miller (Charleston, W.Va.) and Ryan Brookshire (Grapevine, Texas). Brand finished in a tie for third place at the 2007 Xavier Invitational, putting together three rounds in the 60s (69-67-69) at the par-72 layout. As a team, the Herd placed 14th in the 20-team field. Brand's 67 in round two proved to be his best round of 2007-08. The 19-team field at the Xavier Invitational consists of Akron, Austin Peay, Ball State, Bowling Green, Campbell, Cincinnati, George Washington, Eastern Kentucky, Eastern Michigan, Marquette, Marshall, Maryland, Princeton, San Francisco, Toledo, Towson, West Florida, Winthrop and the host Musketeers.
