Royce Chadwick tabbed Jordie Soso as his newest assistant coach in June of 2007, bringing the Melbourne, Australia, native and former Conference USA player to her first Division I coaching post.
A former University of Memphis Tiger, Soso joins the Marshall staff after an assistant coaching stint at Edinboro (Pa.) University last season. Prior to that, she spent two years as a graduate assistant coach at Christian Brothers University, a Division II institution in Memphis, Tenn.
"We are thrilled to add someone with Jordie's credentials to our staff," Chadwick said. "She brings tremendous experience as both a player and a coach and we're anticipating some outstanding contributions from her."
Soso played two seasons at Memphis (2002-04) after spending a year each at Okaloosa-Walton (Fla.) Community College and Grayson (Texas) County College. Soso was the top newcomer as a junior for the Tigers in 2002-03, leading Memphis in free throw percentage and ranking second in rebounding. In her senior campaign the Tigers went 21-10 and earned a berth in the Women's National Invitation Tournament.
As a junior college performer, Soso earned honorable mention All-North Texas Junior College Conference honors as a freshman at Grayson and helped the team to a third-place finish in the 2000 Regional. The next year at OWCC, Soso led the team to a 26-4 record and a second-place finish in the state of Florida. She averaged 11 points and six rebounds per game to earn first team All-Panhandle Conference honors while being selected to the Florida State Community College All-Tournament Team.
In her one season at DII Edinboro in 2006-07, Soso helped the Fighting Scots to a 14-14 record.
Soso graduated from Memphis with a bachelor's degree in Sports Management in 2004 and a master's degree in Education from Christian Brothers in 2006.
