Women's Golf Wraps Up Final Round of EKU Spring Invitational

RICHMOND, Ky. - The Marshall women's golf team completed the 2006 EKU Spring Invitational in 12th place (336-341-330=1,007) with junior Allyson Hatcher (Wheeling, W.Va.) carding a 243 to finish in a tie for 20th. Hatcher recorded a 6-over 78, her lowest score of the spring season, in Saturday's final round. That score proved to be the lowest round of the tournament for the Herd and the lone score in the 70s. Sophomore Whitney Wolejko (Hatfield, Mass.) and senior Jodie Switzer (Collingwood, Ont.) both finished in a tie for 36th place with scores of 251. Tammy Mahar (Ashland, Ky.) shot a 258 for a tie for 59th place. Toledo managed to secure the team title with a total score of 922 (299-308-315). The Rockets' Tammy Clelland took home medalist honors with a 224. Eastern Michigan's Catherine Fortin was just three strokes behind in second place with a 227. Up next for the Herd is the 2006 Conference USA Championships in New Orleans.
