HURRICANE, W.Va. - Following the first round of the Lady Herd Fall Classic, the Thundering Herd women's golf team stands in fifth place, 11 shots behind leader Cincinnati.

Marshall finished the opening round with a score of 318 and was led by a five-over 77 from Rachel Halloran. That total tied her for sixth overall.

Tying for 16th for the Herd were Maria Battaglia and Kristina Garrett, who each shot an 80 in the opening round. Molly Ginger tied for 20th after shooting an 81 while Larie Lynch rounded out the Herd lineup with an 84.

Cincinnati leads the tournament after shooting a 307 on Monday. The Bearcats were led by Anna Camtell whose one-over 73 put her in a tie for the lead. Bambee Dela Paz and Marianne Erb tied for sixth place, with each shooting a 77.

Southern Mississippi finds itself in second place, two shots behind Cincinnati. Virginia Espejo led the Golden Eagles with a 73, tied for the lead.

Towson, Ohio U. and Marshall round out the top five.

The teams will wrap up the tournament with one more round on Tuesday, beginning at 9 a.m. at Sleepy Hollow Golf Club.
