Women's Soccer Takes Final Season Road Trip this Weekend

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Marshall women's soccer team will complete its final road trip of the season this weekend with two Conference USA games against UTEP and Colorado College. The Thundering Herd (4-9-1 overall, 1-3-1 C-USA) will travel to El Paso, Texas on Friday, Oct. 26 and then to Colorado Springs, Colo. on Sunday, Oct. 28. Coming into the weekend, sophomore goalkeeper Liz Orton (Fort Collins, Colo.) is five saves shy from tying her personal season best of 79 saves, which was set last season. The Herd and the Miners have faced once in school history with UTEP taking the win last season, 4-0, at Sam Hood Field. Marshall's senior forward Kassie Hollman (Marietta, Ga.) led the Herd with five shots and three shots being placed on goal. Junior midfielder Erin Johnson (Mansfield, Ohio) also contributed two shots with one being placed on goal. Both sophomore goalkeepers Rachel Huff (Dillsburg, Pa.) and Orton split time in goal with Orton recording five saves. Marshall and CC have met only once in school history with the Tigers taking at 3-1 victory at Sam Hood Field in 2006. Hollman led the Herd with the lone goal in the 11th minute. She also tallied two shots with one being placed on goal. Marshall will kick-off at 9 p.m. ET at UTEP (9-6-1 overall, 3-2-0 C-USA) at University Field with GameTracker available at http://utepathletics.cstv.com. Then the Herd will face Colorado College (7-4-3 overall, 2-2-1 C-USA) Sunday at 2 p.m. ET at Stewart Field. The Tigers will be in action with C-USA opponent ECU on Friday, Oct. 26 at Stewart Field before facing the Herd Sunday.
