Marshall's Lindsey Jayjack Honored by the Mid-American Conference

11/5/1999

Cleveland, Ohio - Marshall University's Lindsey Jayjack became the first Marshall women's soccer player to earn all-conference honors when she was named second-team All-MAC by the league's coaches Friday.

"Lindsey can be proud of her accomplishments this year," said Marshall Head Coach Teresa Patterson. "This honor is well deserved and any time an individual receives an award like this it is a testament to her teammates."

Jayjack, a freshman midfielder from Columbus, Ohio, led the Thundering Herd (6-10-3, 2-7-2) with seven goals and five assists this season. Her 19 points are the most recorded by a single a single player in Marshall's two-year history of women's soccer. Last season, Michelle Moss led the Herd with 11 points. Jayjack is one of only five freshman named first or second team All-MAC.

Eastern Michigan's Sarah Willis, a junior goalkeeper from Milan, Mich., was named the MAC Player of the Year, while Miami's Danielle Berkmeier picked-up Freshman of the Year honors. Eastern Michigan's Scott Hall was selected as the conference's coach of the year.
