IRVING, Texas - The Marshall women's soccer team was recognized Wednesday when junior captain midfielder Erin Johnson (Mansfield, Ohio) earned her second Conference USA All-Academic Team selection with her 3.91 cumulative GPA. Johnson earned her first C-USA All-Academic Team honor last season.

Johnson's second selection marks the only two C-USA All-Academic Team accolades in women's soccer history.

"This is a very deserving award for Erin," Marshall head coach Chris Kane said. "She does a great job both on and off the field."

The All-Academic team requirements include having at least a 3.2 cumulative GPA and are a starter or a key reserve on the women's soccer team.

Johnson is a pre-med major and was one of 11 student-athletes selected to the C-USA All-Academic team. East Carolina, Houston, Memphis, SMU, Tulsa and UTEP also had one student-athlete selected to the C-USA All-Academic Team. The squad has six seniors, four juniors and a sophomore with five defenders, three midfielders, two goalkeepers and a forward represented.

"Erin represents the Marshall women's soccer program with class," head coach Kane added.

Marshall ended the season 4-13-1 overall and 1-7-1 in C-USA. Johnson finished the season appearing in 16 games with 13 starts, one goal and assist, three points, five shots and three shots placed on goal.
