MOREHEAD, Ky. - The Marshall Thundering Herd's non-conference doubleheader at Morehead State Tuesday was rained out. Game one of the twin bill was called in the bottom of the fifth inning with the Herd (29-21, 13-8 C-USA) leading the host Eagles 1-0.

Heavy rains forced the cancellation as Morehead State had runners on second and third with two outs. Per NCAA rules, it is not an official game since the first contest lasted only 4 2/3 innings and five complete frames are needed to be an official game.

The Herd will close its 2006 regular season schedule this weekend when it travels to Southaven, Miss., to face first-year softball program Memphis for a three-game Conference USA series. A 2 p.m. (EDT) doubleheader is scheduled for Saturday, followed by a 1 p.m. (EDT) single game Sunday.
