2004 Mideast All-Region Selections
HUNTINGTON, W.Va – After already racking up three all-conference nods, the Marshall University softball team can add two more accolades to its list as Amanda Williams (Powder Springs, Ga.) was named first team Mideast all-region and Sierra Davenport (Tucson, Ariz.) was placed on the second team, announced on Wednesday.
Williams’ name is etched on the all-region first team for the second year in only her sophomore season. The outfielder was .357 at the plate in 2004, racking up a conference-best 45 RBIs, 15 doubles, five triples and 22 walks.
Davenport, who picked up MU’s first MAC Player of the Year award last week, was a first team all-region winner in 2003. The senior utility player dominated the conference in her final campaign as she led the league in batting average (.390), hits (71), runs (44) and stolen bases (42) to pick up a second team all-region award.
“We are very pleased with the all-region honors,” head coach Shonda Stanton said. “It is especially promising to have Amanda on the first-team list for the second year in a row and exciting to know she has two more years in the Green and White.”
