HUNTINGTON - Marshall Thundering Herd head softball coach Shonda Stanton put the finishing touches on her 2006-2007 freshman signing class with the addition of Guyan Valley High School product Lacy Davidson Monday.

Davidson joins the Herd's four early period signees - Marcena Bertoldo (Bloomington, Calif./Rialto), Erin DeStefano (Wildwood, Mo./Lafayette), Caitlyn Jackson (Ontario, Calif./Pomona Catholic) and Sarah Strong (Anaheim, Calif./Savanna).

"We are very pleased to announce the signing of Lacy Davidson," Stanton said. "Lacy is a quality student-athlete who will add depth to our middle infield. She is a solid addition to the four players we signed this past fall."

Davidson, a shortstop, was a four-year letterwinner for head coach Rod Hoover at Guyan Valley High School in Branchland, W.Va.

As a senior, Davidson batted. 413 with 17 doubles, four triples, two home runs and 37 RBI. She also scored 36 runs and swiped 20 stolen bases. For her efforts this past season, Davidson was selected to play in both the North-South and West Virginia-Ohio All-Star games.

She was a first team All-West Virginia selection as a sophomore (2004) and a junior (2005), while garnering first team All-County accolades her first three seasons.

In four seasons, Davidson finished with a .397 batting average, 38 doubles, 12 triples, 10 home runs and 110 RBI. She also compiled 62 stolen bases during her high school career.

"Lacy is the hardest working, most dedicated athlete I have ever seen," Hoover said. "She is the type of player that makes you look forward to going to the ball field everyday. She always has a smile on her face and she is ready to go to work."
