STARKVILLE, Miss. - Marshall University senior catcher Rachel Folden was named to the 2008 Louisville Slugger/NFCA Division I All-American Third Team announced recently by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association.

After being named to the Mideast First Team All-Region, Folden garnered All-American honors after she finished her senior season with a .425 batting average, 20 doubles and 17 home runs.

The 2008 Conference USA Player of the Year ended her career with a batting average of .405, 63 doubles, 266 hits and 58 home runs. Her Marshall home run record ties her for 17th all-time in the NCAA record book.

The All-American selection is the fourth-consecutive accolade Folden has earned during her tenure at Marshall. In 2006 and 2007, the Baldwin, Park, Calif., native was named the Louisville Slugger/NFCA second team and was a third team member in 2005.

She remains the only student-athlete in the program's history to be named an NFCA All-American.
