Marshall Swimmers Fall to Ohio
Jan. 22, 2008
OXFORD, Ohio - The Marshall swimming and diving team dropped its meet at Ohio on Tuesday by a score of 182-131. "We definitely had a few bright spots and some decent swims," Marshall head coach Leonard Kraus said. "They a really good team and we had a few people still out with nagging injuries. Senior Michaela Sceli swept the 100 and 200-yard breaststroke and finished just off of her school record times. Jenny Johnnsson finished third in the 200-yard IM and fourth in the 200-yard freestyle, but saved her best performance for the 500-yard free where she turned in a new personal best time of 5:13.29 and a second-place finish. Junior Kayla Truswell through a slow start in the 100-yard butterfly to finish second and won the 200-fly in 2:09.70. "Micky was a little off today but still turned in a solid performance," Kraus said. "Kayla gutted it out in the 200 fly to win. She overcame a bad start in 100 fly and really outswam everyone else in the heat. "Jenny did ok in the IM but had a real nice season-best in the 500 free. We're looking forward to setting that up for a real nice event for her at the conference meet." The Herd will have one more meet to prepare for the Conference USA championships when it travels to East Carolina on Feb. 2. "Hopefully we'll be ready for ECU," Kraus said. "We've just got to continue to learn and move on to the next step."
