Dec. 1, 2007
OXFORD, Ohio- Two Marshall records fell Saturday as the Herd swimming and diving team finished the final day of competition at the Miami Invitational. A day after breaking her own school record in the 100-yard breaststroke senior Michaela Sceli broke her Marshall best of 2:20.71 in the 200 breast record with a time of 2:19.54 Saturday. Senior Lauren Goodwin also set a lifetime-best in the event, clocking in at 2:24.39. "Our breaststrokers swam really well today,"Marshall head coach Leonard Kraus said. "They really made some big drops in their times." Jenny Johnsson set a new Marshall record in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:06.85, besting former record holder Milla Kuurto's time by a half second. Kayla Truswell swam her best 100 butterfly of the season, finishing just off her collegiate-best time at 58.91. Siobhan Schuurman scored 224.30 to finish seventh in the one-meter dive and freshman Haley Holmquist finished ninth to conclude a great session for the diving squad. "Today was another improvement for our swimmers," Kraus said. "I was excited to see a lot of season-best times. We saved our best swimming for this final session. It was also good to see our divers perform well and that really sets up well as we head into our Christmas training."
