2008-09 Swimming and Diving Schedule Set
July 28, 2008
HUNTINGTON - Marshall swimming and diving head coach Leonard Kraus recently announced his team's schedule for the 2008-09 season. After hosting just two meets in 2007-2008, the Herd's swimmers will host seven home events this season including the 2009 Marshall Invitational. "This will be an exciting season for us," Kraus said. "I think we have a really good slate of home meets starting off with WVU and ECU all the way through our invite here at Marshall on Feb 20-21." The Herd kicks off the year with four straight home events starting with a four-team home meet against rival West Virginia, Conference USA foe ECU and Xavier on Oct. 11. Marshall will then host Radford and Youngstown St. on Oct. 18 and 21 respectively and Fairmont State and Transylvania College on Nov. 8. Next, Marshall hits the road for the Ball State Invite on Nov. 20-21 and the ultra-competitive Miami Invite on Dec. 4-6. The Herd will wrap up its invitational stretch on Dec. 6-7 with the John Carroll Invite before heading south for the holiday training camp. The Herd will open 2009 at Akron on Jan. 10 and return home to face Ohio on Jan. 20. Marshall will have a three-way match up with Vanderbilt and Georgetown in Nashville on Jan. 3. Marshall will compete in its final dual meet of the season Feb. 7 against James Madison and will conclude its regular season Feb. 21-22 as it hosts the Marshall Invite. The Herd will then head to Houston for the 2009 C-USA Swimming and Diving Championships, hosted by the University of Houston. The NCAA Zone Diving Championships are slated for March 12-14 and the NCAA Championships are slated for March 19-21.
