Herd Tennis Heads to Cincinnati for Matches with Bearcats and Miami

CINCINNATI - The Thundering Herd hits the courts this weekend for a pair of matches in Ohio against the University of Cincinnati and former Mid-American Conference rival Miami.

The Herd and Bearcats square off Saturday at 1 p.m. and then the Herd travels to Oxford, Ohio for a 2 p.m. Sunday match against the RedHawks.

Marshall is 15-6 on the season and ranked No. 57 in the latest ITA poll. Cincinnati is 1-14 after picking up its first win last week against Dayton. Miami is 8-7 overall and 3-1 in the MAC.

Marshall downed both schools 7-0 last season.

Marshall is led by freshman Kellie Schmitt and junior Lynzee Kever, the duo climbed into the national rankings this week, coming in at No. 35. Schmitt and Kever are 16-4 on the season playing No. 1 doubles.

Schmitt leads the Herd in singles as she also boasts a 16-4 record playing No. 2. She was the Conference USA Tennis Athlete of the Week last week for her performance against Louisville and UCF.
