Herd Tennis Set to Host Miami Friday at 1 p.m.

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Thundering Herd tennis team returns to Mid-American Conference action today when it plays host to rival Miami University at 1 p.m. on campus at the Brian David Fox Tennis Center.

Marshall (11-7, 3-1 MAC) is riding a four-match winning streak in which it has beaten all four opponents with 7-0 scores. Miami is 12-5 overall and 3-1 in the MAC. Both the Herd and Miami's only conference loss came at the hands of No. 51 ranked Western Michigan.

The Herd is ranked No. 67 in the nation and just returned from its final road match of the year, a 7-0 downing of Virginia Tech.

The Herd is led by defending MAC Player of the Week, Ashley Kroh (Louisville, Ky.). The senior All-American has won 12 singles matches in a row including wins against nationally ranked opponents in the last two weeks. Marshall's senior duo of Joelle Good (Zurich, Switzerland) and Danielle Hock (Wigan, England) are ranked No. 60 in the latest doubles poll. Marshall has had a team ranked in doubles in each of the last four years.

Since joining the MAC in 1998, the Marshall tennis team is 29-3 at home in the MAC. In the regular season, the Herd is 26-2 at home since joining the league with its last loss in the regular season coming against Miami on March 27, 1999, 4-3. Miami went on to win the regular season that year. The Herd has won 12 straight at home in the MAC since losing to Eastern Michigan 4-3 in the MAC Finals in 2001.

The Thundering Herd is 56-9 all-time in regular season play since joining the MAC in 1998. MU is 16-5 all-time in MAC Tournament play for a combined total of 72-14.
