HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The Thundering Herd tennis team will look to continue its roll of wins this weekend when it plays host to the University at Buffalo and Akron Friday and Saturday at the Brian David Fox Tennis Center.
There should be plenty of sunshine to greet the Herd as it readies for its Mid-American Conference foes from Buffalo at 1 p.m., Friday, and the same for Saturday's 1 p.m. matchup with the Zips.
Marshall enters the contests ranked No. 71 in the latest Intercollegiate Tennis Association poll and is 12-7 on the year, 4-1 in the MAC. Buffalo is 7-4 on the year and 3-3 in MAC play. The Zips are 6-15, 0-6.
Marshall has won its last five matches with 7-0 results, including four over MAC opponents and a shutout win at Virginia Tech from the Atlantic Coast Conference.
The Herd has not lost to the Bulls or Zips since joining the MAC in 1998. In fact, the Herd has not dropped a single match at any position against UB, winning all matches 7-0. The closest Akron has come to the Herd is 6-1.
The Herd will host Ball State and Bowling Green next weekend to close out the MAC regular season and the Herd will honor its five seniors, that have already posted three MAC Tournament Championships.
