BLACKSBURG, Va. - Rachel Blankenship (Hurricane, W.Va.) continues to re-write the Marshall University record for indoor shot put as she broke her previous mark once again this week at the VT Challenge.

Blankenship finished fourth in the shot put event and threw a record-breaking 47 feet and seven and ¼ inches.

LaTricia Jones (Spartanburg, S.C.) matched her teammate with a fourth place finish in the weight throw event with a mark of 56 feet and 11 and a half inches. Jones also finished 11th in the shot put.

Freshman Darby Mullen (Pecks Mill, W.Va.) set a season-best mark in the 1-mile event with a time of 5:17.26.

Classmates Kristin Smith (Baltimore, Md.) and Kathleen Clark (Twinsburg, Ohio) also set season-best in the 400m and 800m respectively.

The Thundering Herd will prepare to compete at the Conference USA Indoor Championships hosted by Houston. The meet will start Feb. 29 at the Yeoman Fieldhouse in Houston.
