HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - Senior Rachel Blankenship (Hurricane, W.Va.) set a Marshall University indoor track record this past weekend in the shot put event at the Akron Open.

Her throw came in at 46 feet and ¾ inches which broke the previous record set by Samantha Fetter last season by nearly two feet (44 feet and four and ¾ inches).

Blankenship was able to break the school record on two other previous throws with her final throw becoming her best on the weekend.

Marshall University women's track has added an event to the indoor schedule for February 9-10. The team will travel to New York City to compete in the New Balance Invitational.
