Marshall Track Teams Set School Records at Sea Ray Relays

Knoxville, TN - Marshall University's men's 4x100-meter relay and 4x200-meter relay squads set new school records at the University of Tennessee's prestigious Sea Ray Relays Saturday.
The 4x100-meter relay team recorded a time of 41.29 seconds, eclipsing the previous school record of 41.49 seconds that was set in 1989. The school record mark was good enough for 13th out of 23 teams in the event. National power South Carolina won the event with a meet record time of 39.04 seconds.
Marshall's 4x200 team finished eighth out of 18-teams with a new school record time of 1:26.38. Marshall's previous record in that event was set in 1986 (1:26.72). South Carolina also won this event with a time of 1:21.53.
Andrew Blair, B.J. Epps, Derrick Dixon and Terrance Tarpley ran on both relay squads for Marshall.
The Thundering Herd men also received solid performances in other events. Marshall's distance medley relay team recorded a time of 10:14.68 to finish 13th. BJ Epps finished 24th in the 400-meter intermediate hurdles with a time of 53.17 seconds. David Lyle finished 28th in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:53.55, while James Kramer came in 23rd with a time of 15:39.68 in the 5,000m run.
In the field events, Marshall's Aaron Trammell placed 10th in the shot put with a throw of 51-feet and the Herd's Josh Sowers finished 17th in the hammer throw with a toss of 161-feet, four inches.
On the women's side, senior Lindsay Pinkney finished 16th in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 18 minutes, 35.07 seconds and the women's distance medley relay squad finished 23rd with a time of 12 minutes, 42.23 seconds. The Herd's distance medley relay team consisted of Michelle John, Lindsay Pinkney, Caroline Fleek and Kari Velasco.
Marshall's track teams will next compete in the Virginia Tech Invitational on April 22 in Blacksburg, Va.
