HUNTINGTON, W.Va. - The No. 1 seed Marshall Volleyball team will host No. 8 East Carolina Friday, Nov. 16 at 5:00 p.m. in the quarterfinal round of the Conference USA Volleyball Championship at the Cam Henderson Center.

 

After garnering its second regular season conference title in three years and earning a bye in the first round as the tournament's top seed, Marshall enters Friday's contest with East Carolina with a 22-8 overall record.

 

In first round action, ECU defeated SMU, 3-0. With the win, the Pirates improve to 16-16 overall, and snapped a two-match losing skid heading into tournament action.

Senior outside hitter Kelley Wernert had a match-high 24 kills against SMU and also had nine digs, while teammate Trish Monroe, a junior libero, produced a match-high 21 digs. Freshman setter Katie Koop was credited with 46 assists and nine digs.
